Crescent City is the perfect balance between romance and fantasy adventure. It balances several intriguing mysteries with a spicy enemies to lovers romance.
We follow Bryce, she is half-fae, half-human. And she is tasked with investigating a series of crimes with Hunt Athalar â a fallen angel. But they discover some dark powers at work.
The romance is excellent. A Super sassy main character and a grumpy male love interest. Both characters grow and learn from each other.

2. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Let’s be honest, you can’t write a post on fantasy romance books without including A Court of Thorns and Roses. This romantasy features a slow burn, steamy romance. The first book feels more ya but it definitely becomes more adult in the second book.
We follow Feyre. She is poor and lives with her father and two sisters. She has to hunt to care for the family.
One day she sees a deer and canât resist killing it to sell. But it was actually a faerie she murdered. And the owner comes to kidnap her to live at the castle as punishment.

3. The Serpent and The Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
Fan of Fourth Wing or A Court of Thorns and Roses? You’ll love this spicy romantasy. It has vampires, trials and romance.
We follow Oraya, the adopted daughter of the Nightborn vampire king. She carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.
The enemies to lovers romance is compelling and the slow burn has excellent payoff. The morally grey love interest is well developed.

4. One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
This is a compelling high-fantasy fantasy with gothic vibes. The chemistry in the romance is excellent. And the magic system based on tarot cards is unique.
In Blunder all magic comes at a price. We follow Elspeth. She touches a magical providence card and is possessed by the Nightmare.
When Elspeth meets a mysterious highwayman on the forest road, her life takes a drastic turn. Thrust into a world of shadow and deception, she joins a dangerous quest to cure Blunder from the dark magic infecting it.

5. Bride by Ali Hazelwood
Bride gets mixed reviews. This is much more romance heavy and the fantasy isn’t as developed. Searching for high fantasy with romance? Then this probably isn’t for you. But fans of spicy romance will enjoy this.
Bride is about an alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf.
We follow Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest. Sheâs an outcast living anonymously with Huumnas. But sheâs called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres.

6. The Guild Hunter Series â Angelâs Blood by Nalini Singh
Fan of Sarah J Maas? Then you’ll love the spicy fantasy romance. It features angels, vampires and an incredible enemies to lovers romance.
We follow Elena. Sheâs a vampire hunter and she knows sheâs the best. But the Archangel Raphael hires her for a job. And itâs clear failure is not an option â even if the task is impossible.
This has a well-developed plot. But romance is definitely the focus of the book. Ideal if you’re after fantasy romance books for adults.

From Blood and Ash divides readers. This contains an intriguing plot but the focus is definitely on the spicy romance.

We follow Violet Sorrengail. She was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant and live a quiet life among books. But the commanding general â her mother â orders Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become elite dragon riders.
But Violet is smaller than everyone else. And with fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

A dark fantasy romance and a retelling of the Lion King. This is perfect if you’re after a dark romance. The series features standalone retellings of various fairytales.

An adult retelling of the King Midas Myth. This is perfect if you’re after spicy fantasy romance books as it has a lot of sexual scenes. It is also divisive with readers either loving or hating this book. Please make sure you check the trigger warnings before reading.
Set in a world where ones with power rule. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. We follow Auren, rescued from the slums by King Midas.

12. The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen
This is ideal if you’re searching for fantasy romance books with a contemporary vibe or cozy fantasy feel. It reads as a mix between Howl’s Moving Castle and You’ve got Mail.

A Curse So Dark And Lonely is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. Prince Rhen is the Heir of Emberfall.
Emberfall is cursed into an everlasting winter. Prince Rhen needs to make a girl fall in love with him to break the curse.
This book stands out for the amazing heroine. Harper has Cerebral Palsy. But despite her disability, she is definitely not a character in need of sympathy.

The writing style divides readers. But if you’re a fa of ya fantasy romance books then you’ll love this series.

24. The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas
The Sunbearer Trials is perfect for fans of angsty, ‘ will they, won’t they’ romance. Plus it combines slow-burn romance with mythology and trials.
