Searching for spicy wlw books? You need to read Milk Fed. 

Why? Because it’s an erotic book about food, sex, and god.  And Entertainment Weekly called it ‘one of the strangest and sexiest novels of the new year’

It follows Twenty-four-year-old Rachel. A lapsed Jew who has made calorie restriction her religion By day, she maintains an illusion of existential control by way of obsessive food rituals. At night, she pedals nowhere on the elliptical machine.

 Rachel is content to carry on subsisting. But then her therapist encourages her to take a ninety-day communication detox from her mother. A mother who raised her in the tradition of calorie counting. Early in the detox, Rachel meets Miriam.  A zaftig young Orthodox Jewish woman working at her favorite frozen yogurt shop.

Miriam entrances Rachel. And as the two grow closer, Rachel embarks on a journey marked by mirrors, mysticism, mothers, milk, and honey.

2. Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner

If you’re looking for a wlw romance with spice and MILFS then this is the book for you.  In this sexy rom-com, a college senior accidentally hooks up with her best friend’s mom.

We follow Cassie Klein. She goes to an off-campus bar to escape her school’s Family Weekend. She isn’t looking for a hookup. But it happens. 

Buying a drink for a stranger turns into a one-night stand. But the next morning rolls around. And her friend drags her along to meet her mum.

The hot, older woman Cassie slept with.

What should have been a one-time fling proves impossible to ignore. And soon Cassie and Erin are sneaking around. Worst of all, they start to realize they have something real. But is being honest about the love between them worth the cost?

3. Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake

A small-town Sapphic romance with a touch of spice. The Bright Falls trilogy is an adorable romcom with a bisexual main character and a lesbian.

Delilah Green swore she would never return to Bright Falls. Only memories of a lonely childhood with a distant stepfamily remain in Bright Falls. Her life is in New York with her photography career. 

But then Delilah’s estranged stepsister pressures her into photographing her wedding. And Delilah finds herself back in the town. She plans to breeze in and out. 

Claire Sutherland has raised her eleven year old daughter mostly on her own while also running a bookstore. With an unreliable ex, Claire Sutherland depends on a life without surprises. 

And Delilah Green is an unwelcome surprise…at first.

This is such a quick read.  I binge read this in one sitting!

The writing is funny and easy to read. With a fast-paced plot.  It’s funny, steamy and heartfelt at the same time. Everything you want in a romance. If you’re looking for wlw books with spice, I recommend the Bright Falls trilogy.

4. One last stop by Casey Mcquiston

One Lasr Stop is the favourite of many book lovers. And for good reason. This new adult book features an adorable romance, a chaotic bisexual main character and the found family trope.

We follow August, a cynical 23 year old trying to survive in New York. But then she meets this gorgeous girl on the train.

Jane.

Jane is dazzling, mysterious and insanely charismatic. But problem is,  she’s literally displaced in time from the 1970s.

So many good things about this book – the chaotic roommates and the friendships are incredible.

5. Written in the Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur

Searching for wlw books with spice? Written in the Stars is a great pick. 

Why? Because Written in the Stars is an incredible, feel good wlw romance. A New Adult WLW book with the fake dating, enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine tropes.

It follows Elle and Darcy. Elle is  a free-spirited social media astrologer. She agrees to a disastrous first date with uptight actuary Darcy. After the terrible blind date, Darcy is determined to stop her brother from setting her up again. So she lies and starts a fake relationship with Elle.

Written  in the Stars is a queer of Pride and Prejudice set in urban Seattle. A compelling and heartwarming read.

   You feel the chemistry though the pages. 

The characters were well developed and well written. The fake-dating trope also allows for lots of character development. 

The imagery of the city is incorporated throughout. And it makes you want to visit the city.

6. Mangos And Mistletoe by Adriana Herrera

If you’re looking for Holiday themed wlw books with spice then this novella is perfect.  It’s a contemporary novella with a cute romance. Plus it has some serious bake-off vibes. 

It follows Kiskeya Burgos, an upcoming pastry chef. She left the Domincan Republic with a lot to prove. She arrives in Scotland with one goal – to win the Holiday baking Challenge. 

 Winning is her opportunity to prove to her family, her former boss, and most importantly herself, she can make it in the culinary world.

Kiskeya will stop at nothing to win.  

That is, if she can keep her eyes on the prize and off her infuriating teammate’s perfect lips.

Home cook Sally Morales lands in Scotland  to find her purpose after spending years as her family’s caregiver.

 But now, with her home life back on track, it’s time for Sully to get reacquainted with her greatest love, baking.

Winning the Holiday Baking Challenge is a no brainer.  If she can convince her grumpy AF baking partner that they make a great team both in and out of the kitchen.

7. Count Your Lucky Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur

I’m a huge fan of Alexandria Bellefleur. If you’re a fan of a steamy rom-com then you will love this sapphic romance about former best-friends. 

It follows Margot Cooper. Margot doesn’t do relationships. She sticks with casual hookups. But now her entire crew has found “the one”. And she’s beginning to feel like a fifth wheel. 

But then fate intervenes. 

While touring a wedding venue with her engaged friends, Margot comes face-to-face with Olivia Grant—her childhood friend, her first love, her first… well, everything.

 It’s been ten years. But the moment they lock eyes, Margot’s cold, dead heart thumps in her chest.So when a series of unfortunate events leaves Olivia without a place to stay, Margot offers up her spare room.  And as they spend time in close quarters, Margot starts to question her no-strings stance.

This adorable romance features a non-binary love interest. Plus, it also features a MasterChef-style reality cooking show. 

It’s a dual pov following Dahlia Woodson and London Parker. 

Dahlia Woodson is recently divorced and on the verge of bankruptcy. She’s ready to reinvent herself on the popular reality competition show Chef’s Special. But the first memorable move she makes is falling flat on her face.

She’s focused on winning, until she meets someone she might want a future with more than she needs the prize money.After announcing their pronouns on national television, London Parker has enough on their mind without worrying about the klutzy competitor stationed in front of them.

They’re there to prove the trolls wrong, and falling in love was never part of the plan.As London and Dahlia get closer, reality starts to fall away. If you’re after a spicy wlw fantasy book then you should check out the Fae Queens Captive.  It’s a slowburn, steamy romance with  beautiful worldbuilding and body positivity representation. 

It follows Janneth Carter. She’s given up on magic. She just wants to finish her graduate degree and spend the rest of her life as a sensible archeologist.So the last thing she expects when she goes to her dig site on Halloween night is three mysterious strangers standing outside an ancient Scottish grave.

Okay, well the actual last thing she expects is for those strangers to kidnap her and drag her into fairyland.Once in the vivid, carnal world of Faerie, Janneth is at the mercy of the coldly lovely and incredibly cruel Stag Queen.

Desperate to get home to her own world, she offers the Queen a bargain: she’ll be a willing captive, the queen’s pet, so long as the Queen promises to keep her safe until Janneth leaves Faerie.But fae promises are complicated things, and nothing in Faerie, even pleasure—even love—comes without a price.

10. Those Who Wait by Haley Cass

This emotional Sapphic romance has likeable characters and a heartfelt plot. The slow-burn romance is executed perfectly. And Haley Cass balances politics with romance well.

We follow Sutton Spencer and Charlotte Thompson. 

Sutton Spencer’s ideas for her life were simple – finish graduate school and fall in love. But it would be a lot simpler if she could pinpoint exactly what she should do when she graduates in less than a year. Oh, and if she could figure out how to talk to a woman without feeling completely hopeless.

Charlotte, on the other hand, is the opposite. She’s always had clear steps outlining her path to success with no time or inclination for romance. Her burgeoning career in politics means everything to her. And she’s not willing to compromise it for something as insignificant as love. Fleeting, casual, and discreet worked perfectly fine.When they meet through a dating app, it’s immediately clear that they aren’t suited for anything more than friendship. Right?

If you’re after wlw books with spice then you’ll love this debut romance. This is an incredible debut novel. The chemistry between Charlotte and Sutton is evident from the beginning. The side characters were well written and it was full of funny lines.
