This is one of my favourite rom-coms. The banter and witty dialogue is hilarious. The characters are great. And it’s hard not to become emotional.

E.T The Extra-Terrestrial follows Elliot. He saved an alien who is left behind on Earth. He decides to keep him hidden. And he forces an emotional bond with the alien.
This is such a simple concept about an unlikely friendship. But it’s so perfectly done. Henry Thomas’ acting is quite simply incredible. And the soundtrack is iconic.

Fantastic Mr Fox is a classic Roald Dahl story adapted into a beautiful movie.
Mr Fox is a family man. But he goes back to his ways of stealing. But he finds himself trapped when three farmers decide to kill him and his family.
There are so many small details in this movie that make it really magical to watch. It’s another cosy and comforting movie.

Matilda is another absolute classic. And a family favourite that everyone can enjoy.

I think we all wanted a teacher like Miss Honey!

I really enjoy any movies or books about bookshops. This also has a fantastic enemies to lovers romance.
This is funny, sweet and an excellent feel-good movie.

Another lighthearted, feel-good romcom.
Melanie is engaged. And she’s engaged to the most eligible bachelor. But she is still secretly married to the man she met in high school. And he refuses to divorce her.
Although the story is very simple the dialogue is really funny. And that’s what makes this movie so entertaining.

Will hunting is a genius in maths. And he solves all the difficult maths problems. But he faces an emotional crisis. And he takes help from psychiatrist Dr Sean Maguireto.
Did you know Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote this movie? The script is superb – witty, funny and truly brilliant. If you’re searching for Fall Movies then I highly recommend this one.
The acting is also superb. I’m a huge fan of Matt Damon and Robin Williams.

Mona Lisa Smile follows a free-thinking and non-conformist teacher. He works at an all-women’s private school in the 1950s.
He encourages women to pursue their dreams. And also question the roles expected of them in society.
Mona Lisa Smile is a classic noughties movie. But also really underappreciated. It follows an incredible cast of female actresses. And each story is portrayed perfectly.

Legally Blonde, 2001
Legally Blonde is an absolute classic!
It follows Elle Woods. Her boyfriend breaks up with her for a smarter girl. He plans to be a politician. And so he joins Harvard Law School.
Consequently, Elle joins Harvard Law School to try and win him back.
The message in this movie is really empowering. Reese Witherspoon brings so much to the role of Elle Wood’s and makes it really entertaining to watch.

The concept is so simple. But Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan make this movie a classic. They have a chemistry together that makes the romance truly believable.
It’s a simple concept executed very well. The comic relief is blended perfectly with powerful, emotional moments.

Silver linings Playbook, 2012
The Silver Linings Playbook follows a man fresh out of a mental hospital. He was sent there for attacking his wife’s lover.
He meets Tiffany in a bid to mend ways with his wife.
The script for this movie is written perfectly. It blends humour, drama and emotional moments flawlessly. It won a BAFTA for best-adapted screenplay and I’m not surprised.
There is something very refreshing about this movie. And it’s an excellent depiction of mental illness.

One of the best Fall movies! School Ties follows David Greene. He receives a football scholarship to an elite prep school in the 1950s. He is Jewish. And he must hide his religion from his friends for fear of being rejected.
The characters and theme are perfect. Greene stands up for his beliefs and other people’s prejudices.

Uncle Buck, 1989
Uncle Buck is a family favourite.
It follows a family with three children. Bob’s father-in-law gets a heart attack. And the parents have to rush to the hospital.
Buck is called to babysit the children. But is he responsible enough?
John Candy makes this movie! He blends humour with emotional moments really well. I especially love the scene when he gets called into school to speak to Maisy’s Teacher.

Big, 1988
Big follows a 13-year-old boy. He wishes to get bigger with the help of a fortune-telling machine. But when he wakes up the next morning, he discovers that his wish has been fulfilled.
This is such a beautiful movie. Tom Hanks stars in so many incredible movies but this is one of my favourites. It’s so heartfelt. And Tom Hanks plays the role perfectly.

About time, 2013
This movie follows a young man who can travel in time. He uses his ability to pursue his romantic interest in Mary.
Another delightfully simple story that is really well executed. The acting is incredible and the characters felt really authentic.
The story is really emotional and poignant. It’s tagged as a rom-com but it feels like so much more than that to me.

To all the boys I’ve loved before, 2018
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before follows Lara Jean. She has a box of letters addressed to boys she has previously loved.
But someone steals the letters and mails them. And this wrecks havoc on her life.
This movie contains so many tropes I adore: enemies-to-lovers and fake-dating. It’s a lighthearted and easy to watch rom-com. Perfect for chilly fall evenings snuggled up on the sofa.

The Notebook, 2004
This movie is super emotional. You will definitely need a box of tissues handy!
Duke reads the story of Allie and Noah to Ms Hamilton – a dementia sufferer. They were two lovers who were separated by fate. He reads the story on a daily basis out of his notebook.
Rachel McAdams puts in an incredible performance in this emotionally charged movie. It’s an absolute must-watch.

Wallace and Gromit Curse of the were Rabbit, 2005
I absolutely adore any Wallace and Gromit movies or shows. They are funny, charming and make perfect cosy evening viewing.
Wallace is a crazy inventor and Gromit is his super-intelligent pet dog. A huge vegetable-ravaging beast destroys plots before the Giant Vegetable Competition.
Lady Tottington asks Wallace to track the beast and save the village.
The plot and script are silly but incredibly charming. It’s the perfect movie to watch with the whole family.

Heathers, 1988
Veronica is part of the most popular clique at her high school. But she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behaviour.
So she confronts clique leader Heather Chander with her new boyfriend J.D. And they accidentally poison her.
So they frame the murder as a suicide. But Veronica realizes that J.D is intentionally murdering students he doesn’t like.
If you haven’t watched Heathers you absolutely need to. Especially if you enjoy classic rom-coms like Legally Blonde or Mean Girls. It’s an incredible and highly underrated movie.

Is it really Fall unless you watch this movie AT LEAST once?
Hocus Pocus follows three witches. Max is a teenage boy who has just moved to Salem. He lights a cursed Candle of Black Flame. And resurrects the three witches after 300 years. And they begin a reign of terror.
I cannot emphasise enough how this is a must-see classic for Autumn! The acting is absolutely spot on. And the plot is hilarious.

Scooby Doo Movie, 2002
For me, this is also a classic. And another excellent movie to watch in spooky season.
A clash of egos has forced Mystery Inc to close its doors. Two years later, they are individually summoned to Spooky Island to investigate a series of paranormal incidents at a Spring Break Hot Spot.
This movie is so underrated! It’s hilarious and action-packed. The cast all do a great job at portraying the individual characters. A great light-hearted watch.

Autumn in New York follows Will Keane. He is a New York restauranteur and infamous verging-on-50 playboy. The movie follows his sexual exploits.
And he is the master on no commitment. Until he meets Charlotte Fielding. She is half Will’s age and a 21-year-old free spirit. And she gets Will yearning to experience adult life
So the storyline is quite cliche. But the acting is fantastic. Richard Gere is superb in these types of roles. It’s a lighthearted, underrated Fall movie to watch.

This is based on the incredible true story of Homer Hickam Jr. He is an army veteran. And he worked as an aerospace engineer for NASA from 1988
In 1998 he published his memoir Rocket Boys. And it became an instant classic. It was a New York Times Best Seller, nominated for Best Biography of 1998 and translated into 8 different languages.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is a TV special based on the comic strip Peanuts. It’s a Halloween special produced by Bill Melendez.
As a child, I was completely obsessed with Snoopy. The innocent humour is great. And it makes a fantastic watch for all ages.
This is super comforting and heartwarming to watch on a cosy autumnal evening. One of the most classic fall movies.

Kubo is a young boy. Along with Monkey and Beetle, he must find his father’s legendary suit of armour to defeat an evil spirit.
The animation in this movie is breathtakingly beautiful. The story is really well thought out. And this is a truly wonderful movie to watch.

This is possibly one of the best adaptations of a book!
It follows a young hobbit – Frodo. He has found the One Ring – a ring that belongs to Sauron. And he begins a journey with eight companions to destroy it.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was a huge success. It won 30 Oscars and amassed over $3 billion.

I hadn’t heard of this one and put it on randomly one evening. It’s a funny, cosy murder mystery perfect for Autumn.
A crime novelist dies in mysterious circumstances. Renowned Detective Benoit Blanc tries to uncover the truth. He sifts through a web of lies and red herrings to uncover the truth.
I’m not quite sure what Daniel Craig’s accent was in this movie. However, it’s a really enjoyable murder mystery with an all-star cast.

The Imitation Game is based on the legendary real-life story of Alan Turing.
Turing is a British mathematician. And he joins the cryptography team to decipher the German enigma code. He builds a machine to crack the codes.
Benedict Cumberbatch was perfect for the role of Turing. The movie really does justice to the incredible cryptologists who cracked the enigma code.
